_____________
3. Peder Mikkelsen/Michelsen- Sidsel's dad first marriage (SA-Kirkeboeger 1813-1837 Maribo, Falster Norre, Eskilstrup- Image 160) mentioned that he was from Hostrup . On his second marriage, he mentioned that he came from Eskilstrup. Probably he was living there by the time of the marriage.
1. Did you mentioned on our last phone conversation that Hostrup was near to Elkistrop? The name is Stødstrup and it is a village in Eskilstrup parish. He moved at some time from Stødstrup to Eskilstrup (a few km’s).
1. I have been trying to find him in the 1787-1801 Censuses. There are many options to select. Would you help me to sort it out?
1. 1787 DDD: I did not find any Peder Mikkelsen/Michelsen in Eskistrup.
2. I found two options on the 1787 DDD for Falsters Norre (Same parish).
1. First: Maribo, Falsters Nørre, Nørre Vedby, Nørre Wedbye, , , FT-1787, B8883 4yo, son of Peder Hillebrand and Birthe Chrstiansdatter.
2. Second: Maribo, Falsters Nørre, Ønslev, Ønslew Bye, 4yo son of Michel Larsen and Kirsten Rasmusdatter. This is the family listed on the NFS.
3. Yes, Mikkel Larsen is probably the right one, but to prove it takes a little more than we can do on the internet. We need to study his copyholder contract, military leavy scrolls and (best of all) the probate records. None of this is so far available online, but needs to be researched on the archives in Copenhagen. First, the date date and place must be found in the church book – best also for his wife. Then, the probate jurisdiction must be identified. In which village did he live? What was his profession? gaardmand (farmer), husmand, insider, daglejer ..? When the gods (manor house) has been identified, the probate record MAY contain the probate, if there is a probate; next best is a probate after his wife. The probate will contain all relevant genealogical information about their children, their families, where they live etc. This is a very good source. Do you have the name of the village, where the father died?
3. 1801 DDD. Found :
1. First: Peder Michelsen, 14yo, son of Peder Seppsen Peder Jeppesen og Kirsten Mortensdatter in Elkistrop. Probably wrong, since the father’s first name should be Mikkel/Michel . In the actual case, the father is probably the wife’s second husband.
2. Second: I found again Peder Michelsen, 15 yo, son of Michel Larsen and Kristen Rasmusdatter. Yes, maybe, if the age is about right.
3. In case we consider that he could be born in another parish....Lolland Norre.
1. 1801- in Horslunde. I found a Peder Mikkelsen 18yo, son of Mikkel Fredrigsen-Katrine Andersdatter Now we are guessing… But sometimes (when probates and other records donot help us) we have to work carefully through every suspected family; by the method of exclusion, the correct result may be obtained.
2. 1787- family mentioned above.
4. I also searching in the FS found:
1. Family Ordinance Record
1. Peder Mikkelsen. born in Maribo, Knubbelykke in 4 Aug 1782. I found out that this place is in Kapel, LOLLAND SONDER- parish.
2. Vital Records Index, the following information.
1. Peder Mikkelsen, son of Michel Pedersen and Maren Rasmumdr from Norre Vedby, Maribo. Birth 03 Jan 1784. Christening 11 Jan 1784.
2. Peder Michelsen Smed, son of Michel Larsen, Smed and Kristen Rasmusdr. from Onslev Birth 12 Sep 1786.Christening 17 Sep 1786.We cannot prove it so far.
1. I found this one on the Kirkb mentioned in the VRI , 1785-1814 Onslev, Falsters Norre, for his christening (daab?)- image 7, between # 11& 12.
1. Could you translate it for me, please? d. 15. Sept. blev Michel Larsen Smed og hustru Kirsten Rasmusdatter af Ønslev Deres liden Søn født, døbt Dom. 14 p. Trinit. og kaldet Peder. Lars … hustru Anna Michelsdatter fra Eskilstrup bar barnet: 15 Sept was ML Smith and wife KRd of Ønslev their little son born, christened Dom. 14 p. Trinit (in 1786 that was 17 sept) and called Peder. Lars ???’s wife AMd carried the child. Then follow the names of the sponsors; they are also important, since they were often family members and relatives: Jørgen ???, Morten ???, Peder Humble’s wife (Humble is also the name of a village on the island Langeland) Margrethe Pedersdatter, Hans Rasmussen’s wife Berthe Marie Hansdatter and Gjertrud Jørgensdatter, all of ??? Ønslev Bye (town)… ??? introduced Dom. 19 p. Trinit (introduction was commonly the first time when the mother appeared in church after a child birth)
3. Peder Michelsen Mand, son of Michel Mand and Else Olsdr. Christening 13 Jul 1784 in Horreby,(Falsters Sonder- parish) Maribo.
2. How do I go about finding the correct Peder? If we consider Mikkel Larsen and Kirsten to be good candidates for his parents, their deaths should be found in the church book – they probably died in Eskilstrup parish. Remember the name of the village/town. Then find the estate which owned the village – better contact me! If lucky, it will be online, but most likely not. In this way we can confirm or exclude this possibility. If excluded we must try with another pair of candidates.
1. Would parish be my first screen? Peder married twice and died on the same parish Yes, but also find his parents’ deaths! see probates etc.
If the Peder Mikkelsen that is the correct one is the one listed on the PRF # 43. I will have an easier time looking at the records to confirm the data.
Niel's e-mail 10/28/08
The PM of 1801 in Stødstrup may very well be the right one. He is serving on a farm, not at his parents! The age indicates a birth ca. 1787, does this match his later age?
Also in Stødstrup village is a family: Michel Michelsen, 43, daylaborer his wife Karen Christophersdatter, 38, and their children Niels, 5 years, and Anne, 2. I would have liked it better, if there had been children closer to the age of Peder (14), but they may have died.
Unfortunately, the births in Eskilstrup are not recorded 1785-96, missing pages, so we cannot that way find the birth to confirm the assumption.
